ABOUT JODENE

Jodene is the co-founder of Lifeology, a life awareness and people development company encouraging courage, consciousness and a sense of humour. They focus on highlighting the understanding that taking responsibility of our own lives is so impactful that it can change the world. As a life achievement facilitator, social media butterfly and through her daily blog, Project Me, along with her years of online presence, she has established herself as a social influencer who assists individuals and companies in understanding the power of being present on social networking platforms. Some of her achievements including blogging daily for over 560 days, she has hosted the Mashable International Social Media day event at the Crowne Plaza Johannesburg as part of 1400 events worldwide and she has been a guest on SAFM and Radio 2000 as a prominent South African social influencer.

HER SOCIAL NETWORKING

Having immersed herself into the world of social networking when South Africans were scarce on Twitter and only used Facebook to socialise, Jodene gave herself the early advantage of establishing her credibility as a social networker early in the game. Over the years South Africans have slowly realised the power of social networking and have jumped onto the bandwagon of blogging and using social networks to expose their brands.
Thanks to her extensive and self discovered networking skills, Jodene has been influential in the establishment of many individuals’ blogs and social networks and has been sought after in guiding them through the process of building their online presence.

After being inspired by the movie Julie and Julia, Jodene decided to accept the challenge of blogging her way through an entire year as she shared a journey called ‘project me’ that she had begun with a friend in 2004. With issues such as finances, relationships, career, family and body image creeping up over the years and very slowly improving through the help of ‘project me’, she chose to add her passion for writing and teaching into the mix and began blogging. With the world watching, Jodene was hoping that the drive to live by her values and aspirations would only be heightened with the world watching. Little did she realise that the following and support would grow so big that readers begged for a second year and sponsors volunteered to jump onboard and support her.

STATISTICS SHOW
Statistics show that blogs sharing information about technology, social networking and entertainment are fast growing and easily draw the readers. However, Jodene took on another challenge and focused her passion for writing and teaching to reach an audience who has a desire to develop themselves personally and launched the Project Me daily blog where she highlights the daily challenges of taking responsibility for her own life and has discovered that this type of personal blogging is highly sought after.

She has used her extensive and self-discovered skills in social networking to continually increase her audience with a total of 111 627* visits in the first year, of which 31 522* were unique visits . With nearly 15,000 followers on Twitter, ranking her amongst the most followed non-celebrity South African Twitterers. Her blog generates an average monthly unique visit rate of about 6 500 visits with 98% of her posts generating comments. She has a faithful following, on a number of social networks, who actively participates and helps her voice reach a greater number of people.

HER PHILOSOPY AND VENTURES
When asked what she can attribute to the success of her online presence, her response seems far too simple: “I have taken my writing career seriously, my blogging passionately and my readers to heart. In a world where we can be called ‘teacher’ or ‘friend’ without ever having met, I chose to interact as I do in my everyday life. I have spoken and listened as if we were face to face. I have never ignored a comment or disregarded a reader. I have not been scared to make my voice heard and constantly remind myself that not everyone in the world would want to be my friend or my student and have never allowed rejection to waver my purpose. Most importantly, I have had fun.”

Through her online success, Jodene has been invited as a guest blogger on a number of South African blogs including the award winning technology blog, ‘she’s the geek’. As a speaker, and in association with on of her company products, Organic Orgasm, she was invited to the Sexpo 2010 event in Johannesburg to share her view on the healthy exploration of sex.

In the background Jodene has written a children’s book called Majestica remembers her magical powers which is the first in a series of children’s stories from Tales from under the grand oak tree. The purpose of the series is that of personal growth and understanding of life. Each book teaches children about issues of either personal or global awareness, ranging from lessons on saving water to understanding the value of money to loving and taking care of your body.

She is currently in the final phases of completion of her first novel entitled Ephineah. This story is about learning to live your truth, listening to the innocence of the child within and giving your dreams the freedom to soar before your body ails under the denial of your Soul. It is the story of listening to voices. Every one of them has a message waiting for you to pay attention and start living as though you were dreaming.
